The Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Roza Mbilizi, today visited NFRA Kanengo Silos to appreciate firsthand the progress in the receipt of maize imported from Zambia and to assess the ongoing procurement of maize from the local market.
During the visit, Hon. Mbilizi observed the processes involved in receiving, weighing, quality inspection, and safe storage of maize, and commended NFRA staff for their professionalism and efficiency in handling the stocks.
So far, 3,480 metric tonnes (3,480,000 kilograms) of maize have successfully arrived in the country from Zambia, marking a significant step in strengthening national food reserves and ensuring national food security.
NFRA remains committed to safeguarding maize stocks through proper handling, timely treatment, and secure storage, while continuing to procure maize locally to support farmers and stabilize the maize market.
