NFRA and KUHeS Collaborate for a Healthier Workplace

NFRA and KUHeS

On 15 August 2025, the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) marked the conclusion of a rewarding three-week industrial placement with Occupational Health Nursing students from Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS).

As part of their academic program, the students were placed across various NFRA departments to assess workplace health and safety practices. Their goal was to bridge theory and practice, and their presence proved both insightful and impactful.

During a closing feedback session, the students presented their findings, acknowledging NFRA’s strengths while also identifying key areas for improvement. They provided thoughtful, evidence-based recommendations to guide our ongoing efforts toward a safe and healthy working environment.

NFRA was also honored to host Ms. Modester Nyando, Matron from Area 25 Health Centre, who presented starter supplies for NFRA’s first aid kits. Her support strengthened NFRA’s capacity to offer immediate care to staff before they seek further treatment at the health centre, a vital addition to emergency preparedness measures.

“Creating a safe and healthy environment for NFRA staff is not just a requirement, it is a commitment.”

This placement was more than just an academic exercise. It was a meaningful exchange of knowledge, experience, and mutual learning. While the placement officially ended on 15 August, the collaboration it inspired is only just beginning. NFRA extends sincere gratitude to the KUHeS students and faculty for choosing NFRA as a placement site. The agency look forward to future partnerships that promote health, safety, and professional development in the workplace.
