THE ORGANISATION
National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) is a statutory corporation established in 1999 as a Trust responsible for the management of the country’s Strategic Grain Reserves (SGR). GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB
The Director of Operations shall be responsible to the Chief Executive Officer to ensure that the Strategic Grain Reserves are well maintained and managed.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Operations Director’s key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: -

- A proven Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture (Preferably Crop Science, General Agriculture) by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE);
- Master’s Degree in either of the following fields Agriculture, Business Administration (MBA), Strategic Management, Mechanical Engineering;
- Five (5) years working experience at a senior position. Those with experience in post-harvest storage management, silo and warehouse management will have an added advantage.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general direction of the Board, the CEO’s key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:-
- Providing strategic corporate leadership to a highly motivated team of professionals in the overall planning, directing, coordinating, supervising and controlling of the Agency’s functions for improved management of the SGR.
- Ensuring attainment of the objectives of the National Food Reserve Agency Trust deed
- Advising Government on grain industry trends and any other effects that have a major bearing on the supply of grain, and where necessary proposing new strategies that would enable the Agency respond effectively to the market environment.
- Ensuring that NFRA operates a proper and efficient accounting system in conformity with generally acceptable accounting and financial standards which include timely preparation of the budget plans in line with relevant legal instruments.
- Liaising with Government, Development Partners, and other key stakeholders in matters relevant to the grain industry and ensuring that there is continuous monitoring of Quality Assurance programmes and operations activities.
- Ensuring growth in the Agencies’ capabilities through among others, development of staff capacities and skills at all levels through the implementation of Human Resources Management Systems and other initiatives.
- Formulating and implementing NFRA’s strategic and business plans and aligning them with Government policies, processes and instruments.
- Managing the Agency’s revenue and expenditure to ensure adherence to policy, regulations, systems and procedures in order to attain and demonstrate good corporate governance.
- Implementing Board policy decisions and reporting to the Board on the overall performance of the Agency.
- Any other relevant duties as may be assigned by the Board and Government from time to time.
REQUIRED ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A proven Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (Crop Science, General Agriculture) by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), and a

Main Duties

3. Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks

5. Help install and upgrade various software as required

Minimum requirements
a) Education
Diploma in Information Technology / Computer Science or its equivalent

1. Experience with Web design technologies

3. Experience with Linux System Administration (CentOS/Ubuntu)

5. At least one year of working experience in a related field

The National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) was established in 1999 to manage the Country’s Strategic Grain Reserve. Its Head office is at Kanengo in Lilongwe. PURPOSE OF THE JOB

THE ORGANISATION
National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) is a statutory corporation established in 1999 as a Trust responsible for the management of the country’s Strategic Grain Reserves (SGR). The Agency has storage facilities in the form of silos in Kanengo, Mzuzu, Mangochi and Luchenza and multipurpose warehouses in Kanengo, Limbe, Bangula and Kazomba.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB
The Director of Finance shall be responsible to the Chief Executive Officer to ensure that there are effective financial and accounting systems, controls and standards in place.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Director’s key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: -
- Developing, implementing and maintaining sound financial management and control systems, policies and procedures.
- Directing and overseeing all of the financial activities including the preparation of current financial reports and forecasts for future business growth.
- Supervising and coordinating financial and marketing activities and provide support to the Agency.
- Ensuring that Management Accounts are accurately and timely produced.
- Managing all the finances and accounting functions of the Agency and producing periodic financial reports accordingly.
vii) Providing professional advice on all of the Agency long term and short-term business plans from a financial perspective.
- Overseeing budget preparation and implementation.
- Servicing the Finance and Audit Committee of the Board of Trustees.
- Producing annual statutory financial statements.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
REQUIRED ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A proven Bachelor’s degree in Accounting by National Council for Higher Education or a Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA and CPA)
- A proven Master’s degree in Accounting, Applied Accounting, Finance or Business Administration by National Council for Higher Education is a must
- 5 years working experience at a senior position.
- Must be a registered member of ICAM
